Favorite drugstore foundation: Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid

For me it can be difficult to find a foundation that fits my skin tone. I think every girl with a darker skin color knows this struggle. I know there are foundations which are meant for darker skin, but those are almost always from high end makeup brands. I am not that willing to spend 30 Euros or more on foundation.

So, I have been trying a lot of foundations. I used to use the Fit Me foundation by Maybelline in the darkest shade, but all of a sudden they stopped selling the shade I needed. I tried looking online, but it looked like they didn’t produce it anymore. It is such an annoying thing if you can’t buy the things you buy all the time.

When I couldn’t buy the Fit Me foundation anymore I had to look for a new foundation, which really wasn’t easy. I used to mix different ones to get my shade, but that was such a pain. Then, I discovered the Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid foundation and I immediately loved it. I use the darkest one, which is the 60 Caramel. And I believe I used the same shade for the Fit Me foundation, so I knew I would be right picking this one.

My skin isn’t perfect. I get scars from every little blemish I get on my face. I am on my journey to get rid of those. I wouldn’t say it is really bad, because I know it can be way worse. But still, I’m a little self-conscious about it and I want to cover it up. What I usually look for in a foundation is a medium to high coverage, but I still want it to look natural.

What I love about this foundation is that it leaves your skin looking almost flawless. It’s not a matte foundation, which I love. It gives your skin a glow without it looking oily. I apply it with a foundation brush, which makes me use two little pumps. You don’t need much product to apply it all over your face. This makes the foundation even more worth it to me.

It is a drugstore foundation which means it is a very affordable product. It costs €13,-. There are 8 different shades available. Unfortunately the shade I am using is the darkest one, and my skin tone isn’t the darkest. So it would have been nice if there were even more shades. I just got really lucky that the darkest is a perfect match for me.

Have you tried out this foundation as well? If you have, let me know what your thoughts about it are. Also, if you know any other drugstore foundations that have a very wide range of shades, I would love to know.

I have yet to try this foundation! Is it lightweight? I have combination skin so I’m scared to put anything too heavy on my face!

    1. Yes it is lightweight. I know your struggle. My skin is the same. I can get really oily, but also very dry skin. This is something I also took into consideration buying this foundation, and it works for me 🙂

I agree with this whole post 😂 I have the opposite problem finding a foundation though because my skin is way too pale for most brands – and most foundations leave me looking orange 😭 I wear this liquid foundation every day now ❤️

    1. Oh, it just sucks if you hear everyone talk about these amazing products and you know you’ll never get to try them because they’re not available in your shade. Glad you found one that fits you! 🙂
